Fragments has been sourced from a number of Barbara’s notebooks dated 2014–2020. In the wake of her death in 2021, sorting through her archive, Barbara’s sisters Janet and Ellen spent time with these notebooks, reading through them and, over the last year, identifying passages they thought might be of interest to her public. Some pages they digitally photographed and shared with Adam Marnie, from which he selected thirty fragments and sequenced them in the order as they appear in this volume.

F magazine was founded in 2014 as a biannual thematic publication by Adam Marnie and Tuomas Korpijaakko, expanding to include artist books in print, PDFs, and artist editions. Since 2019, F has operated a gallery in Houston, presenting solo and group exhibitions by emerging and under-recognized artists.
