This limited two-deck box set brings together Catherine Opie’s Dyke Deck: Thirtieth Anniversary Edition and the Reshuffle Edition—a complete celebration of queer visibility, love, and community.
Originally released by MOCA in 1995, Dyke Deck features stylized portraits of Opie’s queer community—friends, lovers, and open-call participants—each suit representing a facet of identity: Couples as Hearts, Jocks as Clubs, Femmes as Diamonds, and Butches as Spades.
The Thirtieth Anniversary Edition recreates the original 52-card set as a near-facsimile, while the Reshuffle Edition expands the project with 26 alternate images from the same photoshoot, revealing new layers of tenderness, humor, and defiance. Each set includes a two-sided insert with Adriene Jenik’s custom “Poke-Her” games and a reproduction of the original call for participants, connecting this new edition to its radical beginnings in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Presented together in a specially designed two-deck box printed with gold foil on black, this first limited printing unites both editions in a striking tribute to queer self-representation and the radical intimacy of Opie’s vision.
