In the late '70s and early '80s, Raymond Pettibon was prolific, creating illustrations for many bands and events surrounding the Southern California punk rock scene. Designing concert posters and album covers, Pettibon became well known for the disturbing and often violent imagery and logos he created for the band Black Flag, among many others.
