This is the fortieth-anniversary edition of the timeless masterpiece Diane Arbus: An Aperture Monograph. First published in 1972, one year after her death, this book features eighty photographs edited and designed by Marvin Israel, Arbus's friend and colleague, and by her daughter Doon Arbus, remaining faithful to the standards by which Arbus judged her own work. Nearly fifty years after these photographs were taken, Arbus's work continues to have a penetrating and personal impact as she transforms the way we see the world.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Real Worlds: Brassaï, Arbus, Goldin at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, March 4 through September 3, 2018.
